Being inhuman!!
Being inhuman!!
‘Passengers your attention please, train no. 1111…..’ And you are here at railway station. This is the
common announcement in any railway station. And this common thing make the passengers
understand that ‘their’ train is coming. There some other people in railway stations(other than
passengers or railway officials) who waits for all the trains! They are not waiting for the train, but for the
people coming in train, so called humans! They unfold their palms for alms. We the professional people
will call them as ‘useless beggars’.
Among the crowded people, I saw them, three lively souls! Parvathy, her daughter and
grandchild Anjali. They are sitting there in the platform. Wrinkles in Parvathy’s face shows that she is
old, an old lady! Anjali is playing beside and her mom is sleeping near to her. She is from Salem. She
came to Mangalore not for internship or five digital salary, but just to feed her grand child and daughter.
Anjali’s mother is sleeping for she is tired. They are not sure about the food, they are not sure about
themselves too! They are like that. As train approaches the station, they will run to it. None of their
relative is coming in it. They want food. This free world will not give them free food. They want money
for that food. You can avoid them because they are not your close ones. Dare to avoid your child too
who might have anjali’s age. Parvathy’s husband is died of illness. And Anjali’s father left them. So they
came to Mangalore. Being away from native just to have food!
Mangalore’s got talent to avoid those real lives. All here are busy- never ending busy persons.
Anjali if she gets a 5 rupee coin from you will live her day like Vijay Mallya! No government will pay
attention to them. These figures make might make some high-five team to say ‘station looks dirty’.
Parvathi is just one among those who suffers without food and shelter. If
you are not considering all living beings as equal, leave it.. But consider at
least humans as equal. Being inhuman as human being is the worst thing.
Anjali was looking me when I clicked her photo. She might be thinking ‘great chap, clicking me’.
She knows she will be the same If I click her photo or not. I also know that. What to do, I am also so
called human being!!

Coming soon!!!
The Three mistakes of my life,
I,Me and Myself!
I
can always take care of myself. But still I want to meet the person who can
prove to me that I can't!
I am not normal!!
I am not normal!!
Burst me,
for I am burning!
Tie me hard,
for I am tired!
Memories haunt me,
now the things are abnormal!
A feeling of darkness,
darkness in me!
For someone I am a loan,
for me I am alone!
Cut me into pieces,
I want peace!
She wiped my tears,
though I didn’t cried!
She tickled me,
with the sickle!
Burst me,
I am nothing!
Here go the crazy words,
I am not normal!
Her story is history,
my story is mystery!
I don’t want to be mystic,
though it seems like that.
Mysterious, mystic, skeptic,
He, I, me, myself!
I am not normal!
Burst me!

Environmental

I

My Environmental journey!
It
was a new exercise for me! Though the issues (environmental) are the same!
Kankanadi,
the place where I stayed for last two semesters (simply one year!) And I used to walk through that bus stand
daily. Every time I noticed those over flowing garbage containers. When seeing
that, I always said to my friends, here goes great Mangalore. My friends
laughed with me (as always). This year I changed my room to Balmatta. Till
today, no issue was there near that.
Today I again visited my x-home, Kankanadi!
Those containers were
there, still in overflowing
Condition.
I met Mr. Mukthar, person who is in charge of a hostel which situates near that
bus stand. He said, “Sometimes they (municipality workers, cleaners) come on
time. Otherwise God only knows where they went!” By seeing that wastes only we
can say that they didn’t come to clean it today. I didn’t think twice again,
since today am assigned to this particular work. I took the picture of that
‘overflowing’ garbage container. Surprisingly there was a hotel nearby that,
which was crowded, since it was lunch time! During night that bus stand is
crowded, not with buses, but with those small food shops. And as a security
guard, that ‘overflowing’ container, stood there always. Do not say you got
Malaria, stomach ache, etc.! That container did anything to you. Your friends (who
stays in/around Kankanadi) along with Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) did
this, plus the great ‘you’ who ate from that place!
Keeping these things in my
mind I forwarded my steps to Mangalore City, Corporation. There I met Manjunath
R Shetty, Environmental Engineer, Mangalore City Corporation. He looked me
like, ‘how come a ‘khadi’ come in front of me, with an appointment! But when I
said am a media student, he welcomed me with a smile! Directly I said about the
‘overflowing’ garbage in Kankanadi bus stand. Suddenly, he dialed a number and
called Mr. Ganesh and said about the issue. Ganesh, who is in charge on
cleaning that surrounding, assured him (and me) that he will clean it now. That
time, I became proud about myself, and remembered my ma’ms word, I hope u
guys will tread a diff path n take this exercise seriously.
The following sentences are in
a bit serious mode, since, those are the words spoke by Mr. Manjunath Shetty. First
he promoted MCC, saying that Mangalore is one of the cleanest city in India. I didn’t
answered anything. Then I pointed him the issues. I said him about the river
(which is near TMA PAI Hall) is getting polluted. I asked him what all precautions;
works are doing by MCC, against these issues. He said about governments policy,
that red tappism is filled all over the govt. offices, No innovation can be
done here because of that. He said me about the attempts (which was in vein) he
made in MCC. He said, it will take
approximately another ten years to make the waste dumping facilities in proper!
Media, yes, he also used that
word, by saying that media are not covering the environmental issues, but they
are only interested in breaking news! He also said, media should go to the root
causes of environmental issues. And always blaming the MCC is not a good thing,
he added. He pointed that, first we want to campaign the civic sense! “No one
can say that people are uneducated. People who come in BMW Car is only throwing
wastes on the roadside!”
To protect the environment and
to take precautions against diseases, MCC along with Western Institute is doing
College to College Campaign. MCC also did videos as a part of campaign. He
promised me that ‘within two months, we will make facilities in the house
itself, to dump garbage’. He also forwarded some tips to save the nature,
saying recycle the papers, plant the saplings against the trees you destroyed
etc.
.
.
.
With a joy in my mind, for
doing something for environment, I step down from MCC. It was good exercise,
which we want to practice daily; my mind/heart said that to me, when I reached
back to my home!!

BG: (children crying, noise of the
crowd, sound of people rushing, sound of ambulance, confusion, shouting…)
A: Why the hospital is crowded like
this?
B: Didn’t you read in newspaper
about spreading malaria?
A:
I wasn’t here, since last week.
B: Oh that’s it; Malaria is
spreading in our city.
BG: (Sound of a female nurse)
N: Please stand in Queue, doctor is
coming.
D: Take rest for few days, I will
give you medicine. If fever is still there, take a malaria test.
P: Dr, what’s the reason of this
fever, why are you saying to take malaria test?
D: A certain mosquito named
anopheles spread this malaria, it is the malaria season now , that is why I said
you to do so.
P: Ok sir.
(DMO called for Press Conference)
DMO: Hello friends, as you all know,
malaria is spreading in our city. As the DMO, I am forwarding some preventive
steps. You please publish and telecast it as a public interest concern.
DMO: If you have headache, fever,
chill etc. it’s a symptom of malaria. So, meet the doctor as soon as possible.
Don’t try for self treatment.
A special mosquito spreads malaria.
To defend that, clean your
surroundings, dry the stored water, fumigate your area, you can take help from
municipality for this, self cleanliness is must, use mosquito net and insect
repellants.
Always remember, prevention is
better than cure.
